dragon mural update

The client decided on the top sketch, and painting started on the 24th of April. It has progressed much faster than I thought it would. There are only a couple more hours of work left in him.

a black bird

Grackle, blackbird, crow, starling. I used grackles as references but for those who aren't so familiar with birds, he could be any of the many black ones that are always poking around. Acrylic, 11"x14".

Like the barn owl in my previous post, he is on found wood. There are several more in the works, as well as some woodcuts.

another letterpress class

This was a full day class incorporating text, block, and multiple color registration on the Vandercook press. 

The print is collaborative, with each student carving their own blocks under instruction. Mine is the center block.

Updates here and at my flea market blog have been few and far between but I've been keeping busy.

First order of business: garden mural commission. The client saw this pastel drawing and contacted me.

I needed some business cards for this past Tuesday but my supreme indecisiveness resulted in running out of time to order any. So I made some. The "edition" of 24 came out so-so (in my opinion).

This may become a thing.

My entry for the 2012 Sketchbook Project. Finally, finished and mailed off. Whew!


HUGE thanks to my buddy Erin Ellis for scanning all of the artwork and saving me literally hours of color-correcting that would have been necessary had I used a camera in my low-light apartment to capture the images.
